Pay: $25 - $28 per hour
Preferred Schedule: Tuesday to Saturday preferred; Monday to Friday may also be considered
Overtime: Overtime may be required based on business needs
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and independent Maintenance Mechanic II to support a high-volume medical manufacturing environment on a temporary basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining production machinery and related subsystems. This role requires strong hands-on technical ability and the confidence to independently diagnose and resolve a wide range of equipment issues, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, thermal, and controls-related problems.
This position is well suited for a self-motivated maintenance professional who can work effectively with limited supervision, respond quickly to production-floor needs, and maintain high standards for safety, quality, documentation, and equipment reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Troubleshooting and Repair
- Independently troubleshoot and repair production machinery and related subsystems.
- Diagnose and correct equipment issues involving electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, thermal, and controls systems.
- Provide emergency repair response when equipment breaks down or production is interrupted.
- Support production teams by responding to equipment-related concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform equipment installations, adjustments, repairs, and modifications as needed.
- Use sound problem-solving methods to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
Preventive Maintenance
- Complete assigned preventive maintenance tasks on time and in accordance with established procedures.
- Accurately document completed maintenance work, repairs, inspections, and findings.
- Support equipment reliability by identifying recurring issues and recommending improvements.
- Follow maintenance schedules and ensure required tasks are performed thoroughly and consistently.
- Help maintain safe and efficient operation of production equipment in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
Safety and Compliance
- Rigorously follow all safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, arc flash requirements, and stop-work authority.
- Adhere to all quality, regulatory, and compliance standards to support the safe and effective manufacturing of medical products.
- Maintain a safe work environment by identifying hazards and following proper escalation procedures.
- Perform work in accordance with company procedures, safety expectations, and applicable manufacturing standards.
Spare Parts and Inventory Support
- Assist with control and maintenance of spare-parts inventory as needed.
- Locate, request, and order parts and supplies required for production machinery.
- Maintain accurate records related to spare parts, equipment components, and maintenance activities.
- Support inventory accuracy and availability to minimize equipment downtime.
Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, engineering, quality, and other cross-functional teams to support business objectives.
- Communicate effectively using written, verbal, non-verbal, and visual communication methods.
- Provide clear updates regarding equipment status, repair progress, parts needs, and maintenance concerns.
- Demonstrate strong customer service when supporting production-floor teams.
- Work independently while also contributing positively to a team-based manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of five years of experience performing advanced troubleshooting and repair on production equipment in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Strong hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, thermal, and controls-related equipment issues.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to support production-floor customers effectively.
- Ability to respond to urgent equipment issues and perform emergency repairs when needed.
- Ability to sustain high performance standards and strong attention to detail while working independently.
- Experience using PC-based systems in a network environment.
- Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and computerized maintenance management systems.
- Ability to follow safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout and arc flash requirements.
- Ability to work swing shift from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience troubleshooting and correcting PLC, computer, and software-related equipment issues.
- Experience using CAD software to view or edit drawings and schematics.
- Experience with Total Productive Maintenance.
- Experience working in a medical device or regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting heat shrink, extrusion, plastics, or high-volume production equipment.
- Experience maintaining spare-parts inventory or supporting parts ordering.
