Summary

Our client is seeking a results-driven Business Development Manager to lead new business acquisition and territory expansion across the Great Lakes region. This role is focused on generating and closing B2B sales opportunities with CPG brands, building and managing a robust sales pipeline, and delivering customized packaging solutions aligned to client needs.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in business development, cold outreach, CRM utilization, negotiation, and consultative selling, ideally within manufacturing, packaging, printing, or broader supply chain industries. Success in this role requires a proactive “hunter” mindset, with a proven ability to identify prospects, engage key decision-makers, and convert opportunities into long-term client relationships.

This is a high-impact, field-based position best suited for a self-motivated sales professional who thrives in a target-driven environment and is capable of driving consistent revenue growth through new customer acquisition.

Responsibilities
  • Identify, target, and acquire new CPG customers across North America, prioritizing opportunities in the Great Lakes Region of the USA.
  • Conduct cold outreach via phone, email, LinkedIn, and other channels to generate new sales opportunities.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of qualified CPG prospects.
  • Schedule and attend in-person meetings and facility visits with prospects across the Great Lakes Region of the USA.
  • Present packaging capabilities and develop custom solutions based on customer needs.
  • Prepare proposals and negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms to close new business.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including estimating, production, and customer service, to ensure accurate quoting and smooth onboarding of new clients.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities, opportunities, and pipeline in CRM systems.
  • Represent the company at industry trade shows, events, and networking opportunities, and conduct pre-show outreach and post-show follow-up to convert leads into new business.
  • Achieve or exceed monthly and annual new revenue targets.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of business development or new business sales experience in a B2B environment.
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience selling to CPG brands or direct experience working within the CPG industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, negotiate, and close new business.
  • Experience selling manufacturing, packaging, printing, or supply chain services is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong hunter mentality and the ability to work independently.
  • Based in the Great Lakes Region of the United States with the ability to travel locally and occasionally across North America as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for client visits and prospect meetings.
  • Proven strengths in relationship building, problem solving, consultative selling, and working effectively with procurement, operations, and marketing stakeholders.
  • Comfortable with high-volume prospecting, cold outreach, and independently managing sales territory to meet or exceed revenue goals.
