Job Title: Software Asset Management Analyst (Licensing & Lifecycle)
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
Job Type: 6-month Contract
Pay Rate: $37-$45 per hour

Overview

Our client is seeking a Software Asset Management (SAM) Analyst to support the development and maturity of enterprise IT Asset Management (ITAM) capabilities.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong experience in software asset lifecycle management, CMDB governance, and data quality practices. You will play a key role in defining standards, establishing taxonomy, and designing Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to improve visibility, compliance, and governance across software assets.

Key Responsibilities

ITAM Standards & Governance
  • Establish and maintain standardized definitions for software assets and embed them within ITAM standards and documentation
  • Support the development and governance of Software KRIs aligned with enterprise risk and compliance requirements
  • Ensure alignment of ITAM practices with organizational governance and control frameworks
CMDB Taxonomy & Data Management
  • Define, publish, and maintain CMDB taxonomy for software assets to ensure consistency and usability
  • Establish completeness criteria for software inventory and ensure required attributes are captured accurately
  • Maintain ownership models, clearly distinguishing Business Owners and Technical Support roles
Software Asset Lifecycle & Inventory Management
  • Identify and define in-scope software assets for KRIs and maintain documentation of criteria
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Vendor Management teams to maintain an accurate and approved software catalog
  • Ensure proper classification and exclusion of business applications where applicable
KRI Development & Reporting
  • Design, develop, and maintain key software KRIs, including:
    • Software Inventory Completeness
    • Software Attribute Completeness
    • Software Ownership
  • Automate reporting and dashboards using tools such as ServiceNow, Power BI, or SQL
  • Provide insights and reporting to support decision-making and compliance monitoring
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Architecture, CMDB, Procurement, Vendor Management, and Governance & Control teams
  • Support CAP (Corrective Action Plan) deliverables, including process documentation, controls, and audit evidence
  • Drive alignment across teams to improve data quality, governance, and reporting standards
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Equivalent experience may be considered
  • 6–8 years of experience in IT Asset Management (ITAM), Software Asset Management (SAM), CMDB, or IT Governance
  • Proven experience in developing standards, taxonomy, and data governance frameworks
  • Strong expertise in Software Asset Management and ITAM processes
  • Solid understanding of CMDB structures, data models, and data quality practices
  • Experience designing and documenting ITAM standards and Software KRIs
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow ITAM / SAM modules
  • Experience with reporting and automation tools such as:
    • ServiceNow reporting
    • Power BI
    • SQL

  • Experience building automated reporting and governance dashboards
