Job Title: Senior Staff Analyst, Sourcing – Specialized Individual Contributor
Location: San Jose, California (Onsite)
Contract Duration: 12 months
Pay Rate: $55/hour

Position Overview: 
We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Senior Staff Analyst, Sourcing to support strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier performance optimization, and cost reduction programs. This is a highly specialized individual contributor role requiring deep expertise in sourcing analytics, supplier negotiations, cost modeling, and data-driven decision-making.

The ideal candidate is a technical thought leader with strong business acumen who can independently manage complex sourcing initiatives while collaborating cross-functionally with sourcing managers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. This role is designed as a pipeline opportunity for future sourcing leadership positions and requires candidates with the ambition and capability to transition into sourcing management roles. 

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
  • Negotiate favorable supplier terms, pricing agreements, volume discounts, and long-term contracts.
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for technical equipment, custom-engineered products, software, systems, and components.
  • Support supplier selection, supplier performance management, and sourcing optimization initiatives.
  • Review purchase order claims and supplier contracts for compliance with company policies.
  • Address supplier defects, delivery issues, and negotiate corrective actions, credits, or refunds.
Data Analytics & Cost Optimization
  • Lead detailed data analysis efforts focused on cost reduction and supplier performance improvements.
  • Analyze supplier performance trends and identify operational and financial improvement opportunities.
  • Evaluate internal and external cost drivers to develop strong, data-backed negotiation strategies.
  • Build and maintain advanced cost models for supplier pricing structures and profitability analysis.
  • Develop models evaluating variables such as volume growth, spend changes, material pricing fluctuations, and margin impact.
  • Utilize AI tools and technologies to enhance sourcing analysis, modeling, and strategic insights.
  • Issue RFQs, facilitate sourcing events and auctions, and generate should-cost requests.
  • Analyze sourcing event results and provide recommendations and executive summaries to sourcing leadership.
  • Develop negotiation fact packs, presentations, dashboards, and visual storytelling materials to support supplier negotiations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with sourcing managers, procurement teams, engineering, and operational stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple concurrent sourcing projects, RFQs, analyses, and supplier initiatives simultaneously.
  • Support both current production sourcing activities (70%) and new product introduction (NPI) initiatives (30%).
Qualifications: 
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, Analytics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, supplier management, strategic analytics, or related disciplines.
  • Strong experience in:
    • Supplier selection and supplier performance management
    • Cost modeling and should-cost analysis
    • RFQ management and sourcing events
    • Data analytics and executive-level presentations
    • Strategic supplier negotiations
  • Experience leveraging AI tools for sourcing analysis, data modeling, or operational efficiencies.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to work through ambiguous or incomplete data.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills with the ability to simplify complex data into actionable insights.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting medical device, manufacturing, engineering, or highly technical procurement environments.
  • Experience preparing sourcing recommendations for executive leadership.
  • Strong interest in progressing into sourcing management or leadership roles.
