Description and Requirements

We are looking for a Senior Manager, Strategic Relationships and Insights for my client's Corporate Relations & Stakeholder Engagement team in Toronto/Mississauga. This is a full-time, permanent role.


The ideal candidate will be responsible for the success of the company's partnerships and research strategies to drive insights and sector collaboration.

What you’ll be doing 
  • Lead the development of engagement strategies, systems, policies and plans to build deep relationships with strategic partners. The successful candidate will oversee the development, management and evaluation of engagement and outreach plans for both internal and external audiences. 
  • Direct work priorities, administration and management of a multi-faceted team to ensure they deliver on divisional and corporate goals. The key activities include: 
  • Lead and execute a robust market and stakeholder research program (Indigenous communities, municipalities, local community participants, industry, etc.) that delivers data, trends, and insights to enhance engagement strategies, as well as best practices for engagement within the company and broader electricity and energy sectors
  • Provide executive support with community and stakeholder intelligence by managing reports, briefings, and other tactical work products.
  • Leverage, maintain and enhance a network of external strategic partners, and development and implementation of projects/solutions to share learnings. 
  • Develop strong partnerships with internal lines of business by providing external relationship management support and delivering high-quality insights that advance key initiatives within the IESO and broader electricity and energy sectors. 
  • Provide supervision to staff, including full responsibility for hiring and advancement, staff development, training, all aspects of performance management, including dismissal, administering work and ensuring staff output effectively meet business needs and goals. 
  • Ability to assume the signing authority and represent the Director on occasion.

Who you are 
  • Knowledge and experience in Stakeholder Engagement and/ or Market Research
  • Proven success in managing relationships and corporate reputation through research and insights, and creating and delivering on communications, engagement strategies, plans and programs
  • Experience in business strategy, managing teams, budgets and developing staff
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills
  • High degree of political acuity
  • Requires knowledge of business management functions and business strategy
  • Technical and analytical knowledge and understanding of the energy industry – specifically energy systems, markets and energy management.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, conceptual and forward thinking skills
  • Graduate degree in energy, business, environmental studies or a technical discipline. This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the successful completion of minimum of a four-year university education
  • 10+ years of experience in Stakeholder and/or Market Research or related fields

The indicated pay range for this position is a good-faith estimate based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Additionally, it is emphasized that the pay band mentioned herein is the one established by the client company. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate’s skills, experience and geographic location, the expected quality and quantity of work. Most candidates will start at the bottom half of the pay range, with the upper end reserved for candidates with extensive experience and skills and who live in geographic markets commanding a higher starting pay. An employee’s pay history will not be a contributing factor where prohibited by local law.
