Position Type: Full‑time, Permanent
Location: Richmond Hill, ON (5 days in office; some travel required)
Compensation: $80,000–$95,000 annually + Vacation + Benefits + Pension + Travel Allowance
We are assisting our client, a global labour union, in hiring an Assistant to the Executive Officers. This high‑impact role provides confidential administrative and strategic support to two executive officers. You will help plan and implement union programs, manage key external relationships, coordinate program updates with the management team, and oversee the preparation and organization of priority work and schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the work of the Secretary‑Treasurer and Executive Vice‑President, including developing and implementing plans related to their priority responsibilities
- Represent the Secretary‑Treasurer and Executive Vice‑President with local union staff in union‑wide planning, decision‑making, and operations
- Serve as an advisor to both executive officers, supporting strategic thinking in priority areas, including work with labour movement and political partners
- Ensure the executive officers are fully prepared for leadership and external partner meetings, including briefing materials and documentation
- Provide confidential administrative support and act as a liaison between the executive officers and internal/external stakeholders
- Manage the schedules of the Secretary‑Treasurer and Executive Vice‑President while navigating shifting priorities and multiple deadlines
- Provide confidential administrative support as delegated by the Assistant to the President
Requirements
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in a trade union, political organization, or similar environment supporting elected leaders
- High degree of initiative, sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and ability to work under strict deadlines
- Demonstrated commitment to anti‑racism, equity, and understanding of the lived experiences of equity‑deserving and underrepresented groups
- Proven ability to navigate race, gender, and power dynamics thoughtfully to advance equity and inclusion
- Strong autonomous decision‑making and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent planning abilities, with the capacity to discern priorities and manage multiple responsibilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Emotional intelligence and professional self‑management under pressure
- Proficiency with computers, including Windows, email, and internet applications
- Willingness to work long and irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
The indicated pay range is a good‑faith estimate based on required qualifications, experience, training, and other factors permitted by law. It reflects the pay band established by the client company. Most candidates start in the lower half of the range. Pay history is not considered where prohibited by law.
