Role: Collections Specialist
Pay Rate: $25–$28/hour
Duration: 6-month contract to start, with strong potential for extension
Our client is a well-established, nationwide technology and services organization supporting a diverse portfolio of enterprise, public-sector, and commercial customers across the U.S. Known for long-term client relationships and operational excellence, The Collection Specialist is responsible for managing the firm’s accounts receivable portfolio, reducing delinquency, and ensuring timely customer payments. This role requires strong communication, problem‑solving, and analytical skills to work directly with customers, internal teams, and leadership to drive successful collection outcomes and maintain healthy financial operations.
Responsibilities
- Monitor accounts receivable and identify overdue or high‑risk accounts.
- Contact customers to collect outstanding balances or arrange payment plans.
- Research and locate customers using skip‑tracing tools when needed.
- Prepare and deliver invoices, statements, and account reports.
- Reconcile accounts, process adjustments, refunds, and resolve discrepancies.
- Investigate short payments, credit requests, and billing issues.
- Document all communication and maintain accurate collection records.
- Collaborate with Sales, Finance, and Leadership to accelerate collections.
- Escalate financial risks and recommend write-offs when appropriate.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service orientation
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Utilize NetSuite ERP and Microsoft Office tools for billing, reporting, and account management
- Navigate the unique challenges of Federal and State collections, which require a high level of patience, consistency, and follow-through
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated accountability, professionalism, and strong work ethics
