Job Title: WebOps Engineer (Apache & Tomcat)
Location: Montreal, QC
Work Type: Hybrid (3 days in office)
Pay Rate: $49-$55 per hour
Job Type: 6-month contract
Job Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced WebOps Engineer to support enterprise web hosting platforms and application delivery environments. The role requires strong expertise in Apache, Tomcat, and web infrastructure technologies along with hands-on experience managing distributed systems and troubleshooting complex deployment and network issues.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Support multiple devices and application flows in an enterprise environment providing cloud-based experiences to end users.
• Utilize advanced network tools to address connectivity issues, perform fault analysis, avoid failures, and diagnose and resolve functional issues within distributed systems.
• Work with in-house application management systems designed to simplify deployment and management of application delivery components.
• Drive process improvement initiatives, automation, and scripting.
Qualifications
• Experienced WebOps Engineer with strong expertise in Apache/Tomcat environments, web hosting platforms, networking protocols, and enterprise infrastructure support.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience as a WebOps Engineer or in a similar role.
• Hands-on experience supporting web hosting platforms, FTP services, and encryption protocols.
Technical Skills
• Strong experience with Apache, Tomcat, WebLogic, FTP, PGP Encryption, and Proxy Servers.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP protocols including HTTP and DNS.
• Unix/Linux system experience including installation, configuration, management, maintenance, and decommissioning of software and hardware infrastructure.
• Deep understanding of load balancers and Apache Tomcat application servers.
• Administrative competency in one programming language such as Python, Perl, PowerShell, or C#.
Technical Competencies
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot deployment issues across web and network platforms.
• Ability to identify and resolve issues in VPN environments including SSL, IPSec, routing, access policies, and NAT.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage high-pressure outage situations, engineering calls, and customer calls.

• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate with various stakeholders across teams.
• Experience preparing, discussing, and submitting reports on time.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
