Job Title: Project Manager, Engineering
Location: Onsite (Mahwah, NJ)
Employment Type: 18 months
Pay Rate: $84/hour
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead complex capital equipment and manufacturing transformation projects from concept through production launch. In this role, you will drive cross-functional initiatives involving engineering, quality, operations, supply chain, sourcing, facilities, and external suppliers to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on project leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and has experience managing large-scale equipment implementation, vendor relationships, and validation activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead capital equipment and manufacturing projects from planning through production launch.
- Develop and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams across Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Facilities, Sourcing, and Leadership.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
- Manage equipment suppliers, contractors, and external partners throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead equipment design reviews, technical meetings, and project status updates.
- Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), equipment installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Partner with technical teams to develop User Requirements Specifications (URS), risk assessments, and project documentation.
- Support validation activities including IQ, OQ, PQ, engineering studies, and process qualifications.
- Ensure compliance with quality systems, change control processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop capital expenditure requests (CERs), manage project budgets, forecast spending, and provide financial updates.
- Support manufacturing automation, capacity expansion, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, or a related technical discipline.
- 4+ years of experience leading capital equipment, manufacturing, or engineering projects.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with equipment vendors, contractors, and external suppliers.
- Strong project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred
- Experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, aerospace, or another regulated manufacturing industry.
- Experience leading capital equipment implementation or manufacturing automation projects.
- Knowledge of FAT, SAT, equipment qualification, and validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Familiarity with quality systems, change control, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience developing capital requests, business cases, and financial justifications.
- PMP certification or equivalent project management training is a plus.
