Position Type: Permanent, full‑time

Location: Ontario (Hybrid)
Compensation: CAD $90,000–$110,000 + benefits


We are supporting our client in their search for a Professional Engineer specializing in Fire Protection/Sprinkler Design for a full‑time permanent role based in Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and seal completed design documents, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, successfully, and in accordance with company procedures, codes, and standards
  • Provide technical support, design evaluation, mentorship, and ongoing coaching to Junior Designers
  • Conduct periodic field reviews of fire protection systems during installation
  • Provide sealed field review reports to clients, architects, consultants, contractors, municipalities, and other stakeholders
  • Evaluate field review reports to ensure compliance with local codes, approved drawings, project specifications, and contract documents
  • Collaborate closely with all stakeholders, including internal teams, sprinkler contractors, general contractors, architects, consultants, building owners, building officials, and fire inspectors
  • Perform additional duties related to fire protection engineering as assigned by the Engineering Manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in fire protection, mechanical, electrical, construction, or a related discipline
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario
  • Experience in construction or project management is an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret codes, technical specifications, and construction drawings (architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel to job sites across Canada
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience in the fire protection industry is an asset
  • Working knowledge of OBC, NBC, NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14, and 20 is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and work ethic
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and problem‑solve in a fast‑paced environment
