Job Title: IT Trainer – Cyber Security
Location: Fredericton (Knowledge Park)
Work Type: On-Site

Pay Rate: $40-$46 per hour
Work Hours: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Monday to Friday)

Overview

Our client, a leading organization in the cybersecurity and digital infrastructure space, is seeking an experienced IT Trainer to deliver a comprehensive 12-week cybersecurity training program.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for teaching, and can simplify complex cybersecurity concepts into engaging, practical learning experiences. You will play a key role in developing talent by delivering hands-on training in network security, system hardening, and vulnerability & penetration testing using real-world scenarios and cyber range environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver instructor-led training sessions covering:
    • Network Security
    • System Hardening
    • Vulnerability & Penetration Testing
  • Facilitate hands-on labs and simulations using a cyber range environment, including:
    • Packet analysis and network troubleshooting
    • Cryptography fundamentals
    • Vulnerability assessments
    • Web and network penetration testing
    • OS and system hardening
  • Develop, update, and maintain training materials, including presentations, lab exercises, and assessments to ensure alignment with industry standards
  • Assess participant performance through assignments, labs, and evaluations, providing timely feedback and support
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to enhance curriculum quality and delivery methods
  • Foster an engaging and inclusive learning environment for participants with diverse technical backgrounds
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by incorporating feedback and evolving cybersecurity trends into training delivery
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field
  • Equivalent hands-on experience may be considered
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity, network administration, or IT training
  • Demonstrated experience delivering technical training and hands-on labs to adult learners
  • Strong knowledge of: Network security principles, network infrastructures, and protocols
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • System hardening (Windows and Linux environments)
    • Secure configuration of servers and endpoints
  • Experience using:
    • Vulnerability assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, OpenVAS)
    • Penetration testing tools (e.g., Metasploit, Kali Linux)
  • Understanding of: Cryptography, PKI, and identity & access management
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST and ISO 27001
  • Strong ability to teach, mentor, and simplify complex technical concepts
  • Experience as a trainer, instructor, or facilitator for adult learners
  • Personable and engaging, with the ability to: Build rapport with participants, Create interactive and motivating learning environments
  • Community-oriented mindset, with a passion for supporting Indigenous adult learners and promoting inclusive learning
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in cyber range or simulation-based environments
  • Relevant certifications such as CEH, CISSP, Security+, or equivalent
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
