Description and Requirements

Position: Welder – 2nd Shift

Requirements:

  • Must pass 6G welding test
  • Must have heavy‑wall pipe experience
  • MIG welding experience required
  • 2nd‑shift welders only

Schedule & Expectations:

  • Training schedule will be provided and may change
  • Overtime required: 2 hours daily + 1–2 Saturdays (8‑hour shifts)
  • Workdays: Monday–Saturday
  • Typical 2nd‑shift hours: 4:30 pm–1:00 am (may extend to 3:00 am)

Dress Code:

  • Long pants (jeans acceptable), PPE, shirt, steel‑toe shoes
  • Welding jacket, welding hood, leather gloves
  • Site provides bump caps, safety glasses, and earplugs
  • Workers must arrive with their own PPE

Job Description – Onsite Welder

Responsibilities

  • Perform layout and fit‑up work using fixtures or positioners
  • Weld various metals using Pulsed MIG, Short‑arc MIG, or Submerged Arc processes
  • Use MIG welding equipment to assemble fabricated metal products efficiently
  • Operate equipment safely and report hazards to supervisors
  • Produce strong, smooth, non‑porous, and consistent welds
  • Follow required procedures and use appropriate jigs and fixtures
  • Perform brazing functions across various materials
  • Conduct hand‑grinding and forming tasks as needed
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Communicate effectively with team members
  • Assist others in the work area when needed

Educational Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of manufacturing welding experience using Pulsed MIG, Short‑arc MIG, or Submerged Arc processes
  • Ability to pass an onsite 6G certification test

Preferred:

  • ASME certification
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes and equipment
  • Ability to weld vertical, flat, and overhead with strong penetration and clean appearance
  • Ability to operate plasma cutters and acetylene torches
  • Math skills (fractions, angles)
  • Ability to read tape measures, angle finders, blueprints, and cut lists
  • Strong communication skills
  • Training in overhead crane operation
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to weld in awkward positions (kneeling, overhead, lying down)
  • Ability to climb and work from ladders
  • Ability to operate various shop tools (manual and power wrenches)
  • Ability to work weekends and overtime
