Our national client is seeking a Learning and Development Manager to join their team. This is a full-time permanent opportunity located in Etobicoke.


The Learning and Development Manager will provide organizational wide support, consultation and program management on key learning initiatives to enable and drive our business strategy. This role reports to the Director, Talent & Organizational Effectiveness and will have one direct report, a Learning & Development Specialist.


The incumbent will develop, implement and support the ongoing management and execution of programs including leadership development, and select programs (ie. Customer Service) based on prioritized needs of the organization. The learning work will be aligned with business priorities including culture development, change management, employee engagement and talent management.


Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the evolution of the companywide learning and development strategy and develop associated plans to support and drive organizational business priorities
  • Manage the development and implementation of prioritized learning initiatives & programs, partnering with the business and collaborating with key stakeholders including leadership development and managing the development and execution of key leadership events
  • Manage the governance, management and effective functionality of the Learning Management System, with support from our HR Systems team; provide key reporting for L&D
  • Support the development of learning initiatives such as competency models and career paths
  • Provide consultation, coaching and support to a range of internal clients; Design, develop and/or facilitate solutions to address a key business issue/opportunity (engagement, change, etc.)
  • Conduct needs analysis and oversight to the design/development of learning initiatives
  • Facilitate events and learning session as required
  • Develop and/or collaborate with Communications as required to develop communication plans and toolkits to ensure successful implementations of programs and tools

Key Qualifications

  • University Degree in Business or a Liberal Arts program, with additional training and/or focus in Human Resources Management or Organizational Development
  • Completed professional designation in Human Resources, and/or Learning program required, or, in process
  • Minimum eight years’ experience in related organizational effectiveness areas with at least five years’ experience in a management role; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of learning principles and processes
  • Demonstrated experience as an internal consultant to develop and implement L&D initiatives
  • Ability to problem solve, manage conflict, and build relationships with people at all levels of the organization; able to challenge the status quo in a professional and constructive manner
  • Facilitation skills essential
  • Strong, demonstrated organizational and program management skills required

  • Excellent technical ability (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Illustrator & InDesign)
  • Experience working with LMS
  • Experience using e-learning tools such as Articulate Storyline, Camtasia or other.
