Compensation Range: 57$/hr to 68$/hr ( Negotiable)
Our client in the multinational retail industry is seeking to hire a Data Scientist II.
We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join the team in Canada. The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of experience in data engineering, model metrics, machine learning, and MLOps. The successful candidate will use their skills to derive attribution to help optimize pricing strategies. This is an end-to-end Data Scientist role where the candidate will be responsible for project execution from requirements gathering to production.
Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and transform data from diverse sources to be used for training or evaluation datasets.
- Develop, validate, and implement predictive models and machine learning algorithms.
- Familiarize and utilize end-to-end ML product to develop data science models.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to understand the data and develop hypotheses.
- Triage and diagnose poor-performing models.
- Propose and implement solutions to meet our model performance metrics.
- Propose evidence-based strategies to improve existing development and business challenges.
- Present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 4-6 years of experience in data science or a related field.
- Experience with Python and its primary data science libraries, alongside essential SQL knowledge for database management.
- Proficiency in building and fine-tuning machine learning models.
- Robust understanding of various machine learning algorithms and their mathematical foundations.
- Deep understanding of model confidence measurements and the ability to select appropriate models for specific tasks, including where to utilize one model over the other.
- Having a deep understanding and knowledge of state-of-the-art transformer models for different tasks.
- Strong skills in data preprocessing, data exploration, and feature engineering.
Preferred Skills/Nice to have:
- Experience with sequence classification, named entity recognition, image classification, and object detection models
- Proficiency with cloud services, specifically Vertex AI and BigQuery (GCP)
- Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with regular expressions is an asset.
