Our global leading insurance client is looking for an Associate, Health and Benefits for the team.

As a Senior Associate, you will be a client team member providing deep financial and technical expertise. You will contribute significantly to various complex analyses and projects involving the design, financing, measurement, and financial analysis of the full spectrum of employer group benefit programs, including medical, dental, life, disability, and optional benefits. You will interface with carriers, vendors, and client service teams and contribute materially to preparing complex actuarial and non-actuarial analyses for clients, ensuring quality standards are met.


Responsibilities:

  • Develops knowledge of client complexities by working across different client segments, leading financial engagements for a portfolio of clients and managing analyst resources to coordinate effective delivery of complex deliverables such as flexible benefit pricing, renewals and risk assessment
  • Supports client deliverables and associated technical calculations and deliverables, including actuarial valuations of post-retirement and post-employment plans and year-end accounting disclosures
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge in benefit plan design, underwriting and funding concepts, carrier / vendor renewals and RFPs
  • Is a key member on multiple employer client teams supporting financial analyses, outputs and client deliverables
  • Reviews technical and consulting accuracy on multiple types of client projects
  • Develops pricing, models design alternatives, ensures reasonability of results
  • Communicates financial/analytic results to effectively drive client action
  • Partners with Client Service teams to deliver superior project management and reporting

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience ideally gained in a benefits consulting/brokerage firm or health underwriting / actuarial function of an insurance company
  • Actuarial credentials (ASA or FSA preferred)
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, essentially drawing insights from data, simplifying complex topics and conveying it to clients in a way they can understand
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously and produce quality deliverables on time and within budget
  • Strong knowledge of benefit program products & services, underwriting and funding concepts
  • Experience with both traditional and flexible benefit programs – design elements, renewal pricing, analysis, risk assessment, negotiations, RFP process and analysis
  • A desire and ability to support the client team in expanding relationships with clients

The indicated pay range for this position is a good-faith estimate based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Additionally, it is emphasized that the pay band mentioned herein is the one established by the client company. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate’s skills, experience and geographic location, the expected quality and quantity of work. Most candidates will start at the bottom half of the pay range, with the upper end reserved for candidates with extensive experience and skills and who live in geographic markets commanding a higher starting pay. An employee’s pay history will not be a contributing factor where prohibited by local law.
