Job Title: Server SME Architect
Location: Calgary, AB (Downtown)
Work Style: 100% Onsite
Job Type: 6-month contract
Pay Rate: $68 - $74 per hour

Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced Server SME Architect to lead the design, implementation, and management of enterprise server infrastructure. This role will be responsible for building scalable, secure, and highly available server environments across on-premise and hybrid cloud platforms.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in server administration, virtualization, and infrastructure architecture, while also providing subject matter expertise (SME) support for critical enterprise initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design and architect scalable, secure, and high-availability server environments across Windows and/or Linux platforms
• Lead server infrastructure initiatives including installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting
• Manage and optimize virtualized environments using technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V
• Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning, and implement performance optimization strategies
• Ensure security compliance, system hardening, and adherence to enterprise IT standards
• Automate operational tasks using scripting and configuration management tools
• Provide SME-level support for complex infrastructure issues and enterprise-level projects
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including cloud, network, and security teams
• Support hybrid cloud integration and modernization initiatives

Required Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in server administration and infrastructure architecture
• Strong expertise in Windows and/or Linux server environments (installation, configuration, patching, troubleshooting)
• Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or similar
• Proven experience designing scalable and highly available server architectures
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
• Proficiency in automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and modern DevOps practices
