Location: Brampton, ON
Work Type: 100% Onsite (Monday–Friday)
Job Type: 6-month contract
Pay Rate: $45 - $53 per hour

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Nokia IP Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support enterprise network infrastructure initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Nokia IP platforms, providing technical leadership across deployment, validation, lifecycle management, and operational support. This role requires strong hands-on experience with Nokia routing platforms and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a lab and production-like environment.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Expertise & Support
  • Provide SME-level support for Nokia IP platforms, including 7750, 7210, and 7250 series (and successors)
  • Work with and maintain as-built configurations for deployed network solutions
  • Support hardware/software troubleshooting and operating system upgrades (non-production environments)
Deployment & Validation
  • Assist in the deployment of new network elements
  • Perform feature validation and testing in lab (VFlab) environments
  • Support lab setup, evaluation, and documentation for network testing
Lifecycle Management
  • Perform lifecycle management activities, including bug scrubs and system optimization
  • Evaluate and recommend new hardware/software solutions based on existing deployments
  • Contribute to best practices and continuous improvement initiatives
Technical Collaboration & Support
  • Act as a point of contact with Nokia TAC (Technical Assistance Center) for issue resolution
  • Raise and manage trouble tickets, including logging and tracking issues to resolution
  • Support software release validation and testing in lab environments
Performance & Monitoring
  • Conduct throughput and utilization analysis, monitoring performance metrics
  • Document findings and provide recommendations for optimization
Knowledge Transfer & Documentation
  • Deliver knowledge transfer sessions on as-built solutions and configurations
  • Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and reports
  • Provide weekly status reports outlining activities and progress
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings, technical discussions, and project updates
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures while working onsite

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 8–10 years of experience in network engineering with Nokia IP platforms
  • Strong hands-on expertise with: Nokia 7750, 7210, 7250 series router
  • Experience working with: Routing, switching, and IP networking concept
  • As-built configurations and network documentation
  • Proven experience in: Lab testing and validation environments, Troubleshooting and TAC coordination, Network performance monitoring and optimization
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in telecom or large enterprise network environments
  • Familiarity with lab environments and network simulation/testing tools
  • Strong understanding of network lifecycle management and deployment practices
